Staying at a hotel with a crystal-clear and luxurious private swimming pool has always been something I’ve dreamed of. So when I was planning mine and Dan’s honeymoon trip to Greece and saw the incredible Monastery Estate Retreat hotel pop up on my Booking.com list, I knew it was fate.

Not to mention, their “Junior Retreat with a Private Pool and Mountain View” rooms start at only €185 ($195/£160) per night. This is a complete bargain compared to some other hotels that offer private pools! In just a few minutes, I had this place booked and secured for our one week trip to Crete.

Outstanding Elements and Amenities

If you are searching for a luxurious hotel in Greece that goes above and beyond for its guests and features elevated elements and amenities that set it apart from other accommodations, look no further than the Monastery Estate Retreat.

Not only does this beautiful, local hotel have a private pool for basically every room, it also features:

✓ Modern, minimalistic-styled rooms that radiate serenity and sophistication
✓ Spacious bathrooms with luxurious shampoo, conditioner, and body wash
✓ A gorgeous rooftop bar and restaurant featuring unbelievable views and delicious food
✓ Peaceful terraces that are perfect for enjoying the quiet atmosphere and sipping a glass of local wine
✓ A rejuvenating sauna and spa with elevated treatments

✓ Welcoming and professional employees who make your stay as comfortable as possible

When we stayed at Monastery Estate Retreat, my husband and I received exclusive complimentary use of the sauna for one hour! This was one of my favorite parts of staying here.

The two of us alternated between relaxing and getting our sweat on in the sauna/steamroom and taking cold showers in the nearby shower room. We were also given complimentary tea, which was lovely!

A truly rejuvenating experience and a perfect way to pamper ourselves after a long hike to Lissos Beach.

Exceptional Location

When staying at Monastery Estate Retreat, you’ll find that this rejuvenating hotel is in a remarkable location. It’s situated far enough away in the Cretan countryside for a peaceful experience, yet close enough to the village of Sougia for all the amenities and day trip adventures you could ever want.

In just a short ten minute drive (psst, you should have a car when you stay here — I recommend renting one through Kayak!), you can reach Sougia and the southern cost of Crete. While Sougia is very small, it has a good number of amazing restaurants, tavernas, and beachside bars.

Additionally, it’s located right on the coast, so you’ll find a great beach with lots of reclined beach chairs if you want to relax by the sea for a day or two!

When we stayed at the Monastery Estate Retreat hotel, we ventured into Sougia almost every day for food, drinks, and groceries, as well as exciting adventures, like a ferry trip to Loutro and hike to Lissos Beach.

Loutro, in particular, is an exceptional day trip from Sougia! When you stay at the Monastery Estate Retreat, don’t skip out on this incredibly beautiful and tranquil destination. You won’t be disappointed!

The beautiful village of Loutro! Only accessible by boat or foot.
